Showa Modern x Hyakudan Kaidan Tokyo Modern Girl Life

Modern Girl refers to women who led a modern lifestyle that emerged from the late Taisho (1912-1926) to the early Showa period (1926-1989). In an era when a new popular culture was flourishing, these women who enjoyed cutting-edge fashion, makeup, and entertainment, and who were independent with their own jobs, were icons symbolizing the arrival of a new era, and continue to captivate the hearts of people even today.
The exhibition is held in seven rooms of this cultural property based on the theme of “Modern Girls and Modern Tokyo,” and will showcase the urban culture enjoyed by these Modern Girls.
