Hyakudan Hyakkei
~Admiring the Palace of the Dragon King~
Dec 7 (Sat.) , 2024 - Jan 12 (Sun.), 2025
*Closed: Dec 26 (Thu.) - Dec 31 (Tue.), 2024
Hyakudan Kaidan, a tangible cultural property designated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and built in 1935, is the only existing building of former Meguro Gajoen and a wooden structure in Hotel Gajoen Tokyo. Hyakudan Kaidan has continued to evolve with the times from the Showa period (1926-1989), when it was a place for social gatherings and functions, to the Heisei period (1989-2018), when it was elevated to a cultural asset as an iconic landmark, and now to the Reiwa period (2018-current), when it has become a venue for the spread of culture and art. Hyakudan Kaidan, a cultural asset that is enjoyed through various special exhibitions throughout the year, will be presented in a special program that allows visitors to enjoy the view of it as is. We will share with you the charm of Hyakudan Kaidan, a cultural property that has evolved with the passage of time and has a variety of expressions including artworks and furnishings. In addition, we will also introduce new and old artists who have admired the charm of former Meguro Gajoen, which was called the “Palace of the Dragon King of the Showa Era”, and their stories.
